Natured Based Licensing Advisory Committe

In the Spring of 2023, the Outdoor Preschool Licensing Bill was passed and officially signed by Governor Wes Moore. This establishes new licensing guidelines for outdoor preschools, making Maryland the second state in the nation to create a pathway for licensing such schools. Montessori Luna is part of an advisory workgroup with organizations strongly committed to Nature education, such as the Irving Nature Preschool and the Carrie Murray Nature Preschool to discuss guidelines for nature-based licensing programs in Maryland. As part of the advisory team, we have been working closely with Deputy Branch Chief of the Office of Childcare Louis Valenti, Erafan’s Director Monica Wiedel-Lubinski, and representatives from the State of Washington.
